This is Your FBI - Old Time Radio

This is Your FBI

Airing for 30 minutes Friday nights on ABC from April 6, 1945 to September 1st, 1953, This is Your FBI was sanctioned by J. Edgar Hoover's Federal Bureau of Investigation. While there were a few similar radio shows airing during the same era, Hoover apparently liked This Is Your FBI the best, declaring that it was, " "the finest dramatic program on the air."

The FBI gave producer/director Jerry Devine a two-week-long session in recruit school, and access to closed case files, which helped the deliver its believable air of authenticity. Devine returned to Washington, D.C. twice a year to learn about the latest lab techniques, and to confer with Hoover and the Assistant Director of the agency.

Agents were always portrayed as the good guys, and the criminals as unredeemable bad guys. The show dramatized cases about war crimes, Nazis, organized crime, murder, kidnapping, piracy, bank robberies, and more.
